A sister and brother are abandoned as children in a far off place. On the verge of death they are discovered by a giant called Azer who looks after them. As they are coming of age, the giant starts dying. In his delirium they hear him speak of his life of a time where he was a gardener in the King's castle of a faraway giant land and that he was expelled through the machinations of a usurping family who place their own in the gardeners place - an important role in the Kingdom since giants need certain hard to grow flowers to survive beyond a certain age. They struggle with his books and find the flowers needed to cure him. After various adventures they reach the garden where they attempt to steal the flowers while Kraska the usurping gardener tries to catch them...
